Revisiting Black Monday After 25 Years

Yesterday marked the 25th anniversary of Black Monday (October 19, 1987), when world stock markets plunged and the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell by 22% in a single day. Nightly Business Report has posted the video of that night's broadcast on their website. It provides a fascinating historical look at what happened that day and how people reacted.

  2. Haha thanks for the link. I was just a youngster when that happened, but it had to of been scary. I should ask my dad about it sometime.


    I see 30 year treasury bonds were paying around 10% and still traded with fractions! I want to lock in rates like that!

    1. Compounding Income: I was also a youngster at the time; it's too bad my 5-year-old self didn't have the good sense to break open my piggy bank and buy some of the stocks on sale. :)
